After graduating from Oxford University in 2012, Alighieri founder Rosh Mahtani dreamed of creating a jewelry brand based on the French and Italian literature she had studied. Two years later, she launched London-based jewelry label Alighieri. It’s her studies of Dante Alighieri’s epic poem Divine Comedy that the brand takes it name from and that inspires her collections. The pieces are sustainably crafted from 24ct gold-plated recycled bronze through the process of lost-wax casting. The brand is highly influenced by literature and travel, the design is a bit battered and imperfect, with a feeling of melancholy. With inspiration from Dante’s whirlwind adventures, each piece from Alighieri has its own story.
